GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government is expected to give an affirmative response to a law commission notice seeking views on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), a campaign pledge of the governing BJP before it stormed back to office last December.
Ahead of the assembly polls, the government had announced its intention to implement UCC in the state. “The law panel has sought views of various stakeholders afresh in the matter of UCC implementation. The Gujarat government has already made an announcement that it intends to implement UCC,” a senior government official said.
