SRINAGAR: A joint team of security forces shot dead two terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhal area of J&K’s Kupwara district on Tuesday. This was the fourth infiltration bid foiled in the north Kashmir district this year, officials said.
Till the time of going to press, the identity and affiliation of the slain duo was yet to be ascertained while searches continued in the area. “Two terrorists have been neutralised in a joint operation of Army and Kupwara Police in Dobanar Machhal area (LoC) of Kupwara district. Search still continues,” tweeted Kashmir Zone Police.
On May 3, security forces thwarted an infiltration bid along the LoC in Kupwara’s Machil sector and shot dead two terrorists. On March 24, one infiltrator was killed near the LoC in the district’s Tangdhar sector. On February 16, another infiltration bid was foiled along the LoC in Tangdhar sector and one terrorist was gunned down.
